2023 CF Moto 450ss R Spec

The Beginning

After selling our Yamaha R3, we sought a bike with more power and tech, ultimately choosing a used 2023 CF Moto 450ss. It came completely stock with one owner that bought it brand new. We picked the CF Moto 450ss over the Aprilia RS457, with the deciding factor being price.

450ss vs R3

Our 450ss offers more advanced tech than our previous R3 and even surpasses the 2025 Yamaha R3, which we briefly evaluated. The ride experience is also distinctly different. The 450ss produces greater HP and TQ, along with significantly improved top-end. While we will miss our R3 build. Yamaha's reputation for manufacturing robust, high-quality sport bikes is well-deserved.

New Tires

Notably, CF Moto outfits these sport bikes with generic brand tires straight from the factory. They weren't too bad, but we needed something with more grip. Following rigorous research, we promptly upgraded to a high-performance set of Dunlop tires. We chose the highly respected Sportmax GPR300 in the stock sizes. We extend our appreciation to Gustin Motorsports in Costa Mesa, CA for their expert guidance and install.

Our First Mod

We instantly replaced the unattractive industry standard stock rear fender with a fender eliminator kit from Aliexpress. We opted for a basic solid black color set that included integrated rear turn signals. The fitment is excellent, and it looks great. Much improved.

Fighting Wind

After riding this sport bike for the first two months, we observed a clear issue. It had naked bike vibes with a stock small windscreen. The factory windscreen just does not effectively block the wind. Given the numerous options available, we opted for a brand we trust. In our opinion, Puig makes the best clear windscreen for the 450ss. Their Track version Z Screen provides slightly better wind protection and, admittedly, enhances the bike's aggressive style.

Another View

This windscreen looks great, and it fit perfectly.  It almost looks perfectly stock like it came directly from the factory in China standard on the bike. We just wanted to show you again.

Front Wing Spoiler

There is a slight gap in the front and a lot of people equip a front wing spoiler to fix this gap. We went with a Gloss Carbon Fiber unit from Aliexpress. And it looks outstanding. So aggressive. We love the extra style it provides to the overall look of the bike.
